A Decade of Change – Three Industries That Have Evolved The Most

Looking back at the last ten years, it wouldn’t be easy to pinpoint exactly where the world changed – yet we all know the change has occurred. So much happens so fast in our society, and we often get caught up without reflecting on these changes. Whether it be the rise of technology responsible for the majority of industries across the world, or how we live our lives – it’s fair to say that pretty much everything has been impacted in the last decade.
One area that we can point to, particularly regarding change is the casino world, and this is all thanks to technology driving this space into an online form. What was known as the entertainment hubs of the world are now easily accessible places to join online. The concept is still there, but it’s
Whether it be the rise of technology that’s responsible for the majority of industries across the world, or the way we live our lives – it’s fair to say that pretty much everything has been impacted in the last decade.
One area that we can point to particularly regarding change is the casino world, and this is all thanks to technology driving this space into an online form. What was known as the entertainment hubs of the world are now easily accessible places to join online. The concept is still there, but it’s very much the accessibility factor that has changed for the better. In this blog, we will explore the ins and outs of the areas that have evolved in the last ten years, and reflect on where we are today. From health and wellness to casinos and social media – all of these industries shape our daily lives without us even knowing.
1. The rise of online casinos
It wouldn’t be an article on all things evolution if the casino and gambling space wasn’t at the top spot. The gambling industry has gone through a sensationally seismic shift in the last ten years, and this is driven by the huge advancement of technology. This, along with the growth of online spaces, means that players can engage from wherever they are in the world. It’s a far cry from decades ago when people wanting to gamble would have to physically travel to their nearest casino to place a bet.
Today, online casinos offer thousands of game options, all of which are super high-tech. Fruit machines in the past would have consisted of very simple storylines or designs, yet the options available in today’s slots for real money provide a plethora of choices that are almost impossible to tire of. These digital slot machines come with a variety of themes, styles, and innovative features that level up the gameplay for the players. They’re able to be accessed through a PC, a cell phone, and even on consoles – which is worlds away from where we were in the past.
As well as a boost in slot machines online, there is also a huge growth in live dealer games, where players can interact with dealers in real-time. These additions add to the satisfaction power of the casino and ensure the customers return for more.
2. Smart technology
The last decade has contributed to one of the biggest changes of our generation – and what a ride it’s been! Smart technology has catapulted into every corner of our homes, and it’s the reason things are faster, smarter and a whole lot more future-forward. Long gone are the days where you would have to turn the actual light switch on yourself (shock horror!), as today we are adapting to smart light bulbs, smart remotes, and, you guessed it, voice assistants to do it all for you! Voice-activated assistants like Google and Amazon are part of our everyday lives in this society, and they contribute to many things throughout the home. They can find out the weather before you step outside, give you recommendations on what to eat – and even play your favorite music while you’re cooking. Talk about a trusty sidekick?
Besides these growths in technology for our home, we’ve also welcomed smart appliances, where preheating an oven isn’t necessarily something you have to do yourself. You can get notifications about when your laundry is finished, and also wake up to freshly brewed coffee, making smart technology turn our society into a little bit of a lazier – but more satisfied – one. In summary, smart technology has made our lives smoother and easier – while keeping us all connected in a social-first world. Who knew that the movies were preempting what was about to happen? Either way, it’s pretty cool.
3. Social media
Last, but not least, it’s the driver in all things this generation obsesses over… social media! Social channels alone have changed significantly from what they once were, as they have evolved and adapted to suit our growing needs. Businesses now use social media as a form of marketing, which is enormously lucrative, and people are also making money/brands out of themselves. What started as a way to share photos of funny moments across the internet is now a fully-fledged platform that is used by everyone. 10 years ago, we would have seen lengthy captions from our family friends about their lives, and today we’re witnessing short, snappy captions paired with imagery. It’s changing as we change, and truly helped by the growth in technology.
The main reason social media is altering so rapidly is also because of the influencer culture in our society. Everyday people have turned into social media superstars, and now market their brands and products through short-form videos. Because of this, brands are looking for influencers online to get into new customer bases and grow their businesses. This makes marketing far more personalized than it has ever been – and we have social media to thank for this huge landmark moment.
